    The ART JEWELRY FORUM – a website promoting knowledge about contemporary jewellery-making and design as well as creators of artistic jewellery, has published an interview on the "silver" activity of the Gallery of Art in Legnica. The director of the Gallery, Justyna Teodorczyk, talks about the beginnings of Legnica SILVER Festival, its importance in the context of the region specificity, as well as about innovations and new design trends in the field of jewellery. She also mentions the International Collection of Contemporary Artistic Jewellery owned by the Gallery, which was presented during last year's Action Collection exhibition.

    Legnica Jewellery Festival SILVER will take place in May!

     

    The 41st edition of Legnica SILVER Festival will take place in May and will once again bring together artists and lovers of contemporary artistic jewellery. The event will culminate on 28-29.05.2021. This year's programme will include exhibitions planned, prepared and ... cancelled due to the pandemic last year. This time - ready for different scenarios - we are preparing the event in a hybrid form, enabling participation regardless of the current epidemiological situation. Legnica will host 14 solo and group exhibitions, cross-sectional and problem-based, presenting various examples of artistic jewellery by contemporary artists from Poland, France, Belgium, Lithuania, Germany, Slovakia, the Netherlands, Great Britain and China, to name a few.

    Competition "Still human" - list of the qualified artists

     

    On 19-22 February, the Jury debate of the 29th International Jewellery Competition Still Human? took place. An international group of Jurors, consisting of: Caroline Broadhead (United Kingdom), Magdalena Kwiatkiewicz (Poland), Georg Dobler (Germany), Darijus Gerlikas (Lithuania) and Sławomir Fijałkowski (Poland) evaluated 357 works by 186 artists from 35 countries. Works by 44 artists were selected for the post-competition exhibition.

    Action Collection is the first such extensive exhibition of art jewellery from the International Collection of Contemporary Jewellery that belongs to the Gallery of Art in Legnica, which also upholds over 40 years of tradition of the Legnica SILVER Festival. The dynamic development of the Festival was connected with the necessity to collect the most interesting works, presented and awarded in its successive editions.

About the Festival

For more than forty years, the Gallery of Art in Legnica has been specializing in the promotion of contemporary jewellery and artistic objects made mainly of silver. The Jewellery Festival SILVER is one of the most important events shaping the cultural life of the region and building its image on the international forum. Every year we organize individual and group exhibitions of Polish and international artists, publish exhibition catalogues, organize conferences and symposia, as well as jewellery shows, workshops, debates and concerts. The most important event we organize is Legnica International Jewellery Competition which has a different theme every year.
