Jonatan Poeche (born 2002) is a third-year undergraduate student at the Institute of Jewellery at Wł. Strzemiński Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź. He is a graduate of Secondary School of Fine Arts in Zabrze. Winner of Grand Prix, Hopea Company Award, Mariusz Pajączkowski Open Gallery Award, Powidoki Magazine Award and the Art Gallery Award in Legnica in the 33rd edition of Wł. Strzemiński PROJECT competition. His works have been presented at exhibitions: "Striped flint through the eyes of students" at the Castle Museum in Sandomierz (2022), "Correlations. AFA” at the Hilary Majewski Villa (2023) and 'Beginning' at the Złota Gallery at the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź (2023).

The content and form of the young artist's works are the result of a keen - though light-hearted - observation of the surrounding world and its inhabitants. Jonatan is a discoverer and collector of moments, scraps of everyday life seemingly devoid of meaning.

His experiments with form and matter are geared towards the joy of exploration, and the creative process is more important than the goal itself. The works - although stylistically diverse - express an interest in ordered geometric solids and lines. They combine simplicity with the rawness of the material. Jonatan uses natural materials (wood, which gains a symbolic dimension in his works), reaches for colour (enamel) and combines different textures and materials.

It is important for me to immerse myself in the inconspicuous, to delve into subtle nuances, hidden narratives, such as details in architecture, exposed layers of facade in an old hovel I have just passed, or that glove hanging there on a branch for no apparent reason. The traces of history, the transience of time, the everyday changes that often escape us in the hustle and bustle of a fast-paced day, these are the themes that most appeal to me. The individuality and otherness of people and things in space as a result of their emotions, experiences and histories. The piling up and overlapping of shapes and lines, the unusual constructions that are small elements of our everyday life viewed with indifference are unique objects of inspiration for me.

I am keen for my work to express an openness to the diversity of the world and the inspiration that can come at the least expected moments. I see jewellery art more as a journey than a destination I am striving to reach.

For me, jewellery is not only an art form, it also carries deep symbolic and emotional meaning. Through designing and creating, I can experiment with different materials, shapes and textures, which allows me to express my creativity in three-dimensional forms.

Unlike painting or sculpture, jewellery is closely connected to the body and everyday life. My pieces can become an integral part of someone's identity and history. It's fascinating how small objects, carrying with them emotions and memories, can become so meaningful to people.
